HOP Faculty Member Presents at National PDMP Meeting in Washington, D.C.

Chris Delcher, Ph.D., gave a presentation on the new web-based Florida Drug-Related Outcomes and Surveillance Tracking System (FROST) at a national prescription drug monitoring program meeting in Washington, D.C., in August.

Delcher, an assistant professor in the Department of Health Outcomes & Policy, was invited to present “Development of the Florida Drug-Related Outcomes Surveillance Tracking System (FROST)” at the Bureau of Justice Assistance’s Harold Rogers Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP) National Meeting in Washington, D.C., on August 18. The annual summit, hosted by Brandeis University’s PDMP Training and Technical Assistance Center, brings together state prescription drug monitoring program directors, health agency leaders, and researchers and staff from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the White House’s Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP).

Delcher said his presentation on FROST caught the attention of the White House when a senior science policy advisor from the Office of National Drug Control Policy contacted Delcher after his talk to ask for more information about the program.

“Given the central role that Florida has played in the nation’s prescription drug abuse epidemic, we have an opportunity to lead the way for data-driven, multidisciplinary approaches to addressing this problem.  FROST embodies that vision,” Delcher said.
